  • Yellowstone Bulls

    • The Yellowstone bison on Red Rock Ranch in Montana undergo annual testing for Brucellosis exposure because of their location within Montana’s Designated Surveillance Area (DSA).  This herd is continually exposed to Brucellosis infected elk that often transmit the disease to the bison through female elk having abortive births within the bison herd.  This year there was a suspect animal found in the herd.  Although we believe that further confirmatory tests would eventually clear the herd, we were uncertain as to the length of time this may require.   With the sale date being so close, it was with an abundance of caution that we decided to remove the Yellowstone bulls from the 2019 Turner Ranches Prairie Performance Auction (TRPPA).   We are currently making plans move the Yellowstone herd to another ranch location to ensure Yellowstone bulls will be available for sale in the 2020 TRPPA.  Thank you for your patience and understanding as we try to make the best decisions for our clients.

Animal Health: All auction animals have official ID tags, were calf-hood vaccinated with 7-way clostridial and have had multiple annual vaccinations for mycoplasma.  Prior to transfer of ownership, all animals will have been genetically tested and will not have cattle mitochondrial DNA.

Two-Year-Old Bred Heifers will be vaccinated against Mycoplasma and given a dewormer.  As calves, all heifers were official calfhood vaccinated (OCV) with RB-51 and given a 7-way clostridial.  Guaranteed pregnant by veterinary palpation or ultrasound at the time of the auction.   Additional vaccinations and tests at buyer’s request, risk and expense.

2017 Breeding Bulls including Castlerock Conservation Bulls will be vaccinated against Mycoplasma and given a dewormer. As calves, all bulls were additionally given a 7-way clostridial.
